This week on Orange Ribbon Saturday 28 August

This week on Orange Ribbon we will be speaking to Amao who is a transexual from New Zealand with a Samoan backgroung. She will tell us about her journey through life as a man and the transformation to dressing and presenting herself as a woman.

Amao's story has it sad moments but generally it is a happy and uplifting and not to be missed.

On this weeks show we will be talking to Jacqui and Amanda who are both practice Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).

We will be asking what TCM is, and what are its principles. We will also talk about how TCM has relevance to the gay community, especially in relation to fertility.

This Week on Orange Ribbon Saturday 31 July 2010

This week on Orange Ribbon we will be talking to Almir by telephone from Brazil. He calls himself a Welsh Brazilian Jew who lives around the world but stationed in Brazil as much as possible.

Almir is an economist, is involved with media marketing and a consultant for the Canadian International Development Agency.

He will talk about being gay in Brazil and how the laws of Brazil affect the gay community. We will also hear about how many transvestite mayors there are in Brazil and a break through they have with HIV issues in the country.

Almir has a lot to talk about so tune into Orange Ribbon on Joy 94.9 to hear what he has to say and learn about life in Brazil.

This week on Orange Ribbon we will be talking to Manoj who originally comes from India. In February this year he and approx 10 friends went to India to celebrate his birthday. We will talk to Manoj about the changes he sees in India, if making homosexuality legal in Delhi has made a difference to life for the gay community.

Manoj also traveled to the UK, different parts of Europe and the USA. Part of our discussion will be about the different way the gay community live and party in their country.

This Week on Orange Ribbon Saturday 26 June 2010

This week on Orange Ribbon we will be talking to a lady who was born in Germany but came to Australia at a very early age. She will talk about her mother's struggles living in Germany during world war two and why she had to flee Germany and live in Holland.

It has not always been easy for migrants to Australia, our guest will talk about living in Boarding houses in Sydney and the only person to come home to after school was the lady who owned the house. Sexual and sometimes violent abuse were a part of her life when she was a child, her best friends during this time was the local book shop that allowed her to read the books without buying them, the gay community and protitutes of Kings Cross in Sydney.

Our guests' story is happy and sad but in life we need to find the right path to take, you decide if she found that path.

This week on Orange Ribbon we will be talking to Sam who comes from London. Sam is still a young guy and will talk about his early life in London, his school days and getting in with the wrong gang at school. He does have some regrets, he almost brook his mum's heart by getting into petty crime and ending up in more trouble than he could cope with himself.

Sam is a very nice young man, he now realises he did wrong and went all out to correct his ways and make his mum happy. Unfortunately he had a serious accident before he come to Australia over two years ago. Sam will tell us how bad it is, how he copes being partially disabled and how he comes to terms with his life now.

On this weeks show, we will be exploring the two sides of  "coming out". What is it like for someone to come out to a friend, their reaction and what it is like for the friend to have someone come out to them.

Both our guests are born in Australia to Vietnamese/Chinese parents, we will be looking into if it was easier for one to come out to the other because of their background or because they were good friends only.

On this weeks show we will be speaking with Ravi who is a counsellor with mostly young people who have various problems including drugs, alcohol and mental health problems. Not all his patients are gay but there are some who are and we will talk to Ravi about what the challenges are for them.

Ravi has been with us Orange Ribbon before and we talked about India and how the High Court in Delhi legalised homosexuality. This week we will ask Ravi, has India move on from there? has it made a difference to the gay population in Delhi?

This Week on Orange Ribbon Saturday 1 May

This week on Orange Ribbon we will be speaking to Henry from Bogota in Columbia. He will talk about his country, the poverty and how catholic his country really is.

Henry will also talk about training to be a Catholic Priest, a Dominican Brother in the  the church and how he found it easy to be gay even though he was very religious.

Henry is will be frank about the church and how many gay people he met while studying and part of the church. . He talks about leaving the church and studying an other profession but eventually it pulled him back in, he will tells why and how.

He will tells us why he came to Australia, what he is doing now and how life has changed a lot for him.

This week on Orange Ribbon is a little bit different, we do not get many people who have done so much in their life and happy to settle for something completely different.

This Week on Orange Ribbon Saturday 24 April

This week on Orange Ribbon we will be talking to Eric who is Malaysian Chinese but has live in Australia for over 10 years. He will talk about his life in Malaysia and how and why it is different from his life here in Australia.

He will talk coming out to his parents and how he did it and who he told 1st and why. His story about coming out to them is different from the usual and quite funny. He will tell us how he met his partner and how his mother introduced his partner to someone else 1st.

You will enjoy Eric's story, he is honest about his life and funny about what happened along the way.

This Saturday on Orange Ribbon 17 April 2010

This week on Orange Ribbon we have Marc who was born and raised in France. He has spent a lot of his adult life in many countries not least in various cities in and around China.
He has a very interesting story, educated in France but also did his university studies in other countries and worked in Honk Kong and China for several years.
He met his 1st partner in his late 20's in China and has never looked back..
Marc will talk about life in China, coming out at a late age and how he eventually told his family about his life.

This Weeks Show Saturday 10 April

On the first half of this weeks show, we will be introducing our new presenter Mark. Mark will talk a little bit about himself, tell us what part of the world he comes from and how he got involved with Joy 94.9.

On the second half of the show, we will be speaking to Sanda who is a model, Bollywood Actress and Yoga teacher. Sanda is Croatian, lived in Sweden part of her life and has traveled the world as a model and eventually an actress in India.
